Our History
HVDSA was founded in 2004 to meet the demand for what the investors identified as a major market that was not being supplied with suitable and practical equipment.
Up until 2004 Cable withstand testing using VLF technology and the associated VLF Diagnostics of Tan Delta and Partial Discharge was supported with very expensive van or truck mounted equipment. Systems weighing 450kgs and costing tens of thousands (of Euros) were the only options available to the market.
The HVA30 – the first product launched by HVDSA in 2005 – weighing in at 17kgs, was the smallest and lightest of its kind for the power it developed (0.5micro Farad at 0.1Hz at 23kV rms). These systems are air insulated and fan cooled with optional battery or mains supply. Over 800 units have been sold worldwide since its launch.
Since the HVA30 the family of HVDSA products has grown to include the

- HVA28/28TD in 2012
The smallest and lightest Tan Delta set (the TD30) was launched in 2007 making Diagnostics both affordable and practical for the first time. Weighing just 8kgs with Bluetooth communication to a laptop, the new age of truly portable diagnostics had arrived. The TD30 was followed in 2008 with the TD60. The TD systems can be integrated directly into the HVA family of products.
At the same time of the Tan Delta’s (TD) launch, the portable range of Partial Discharge sets was also launched making a complete family of portable products covering aspects of Overvoltage Testing for Commissioning and Maintenance tests as well as Diagnostics by means of Water Tree analysis through Tan Delta measurements and Electrical Tree Location by way of Partial Discharge measurements.
Our infrastructure and facilities
HVDSA is truly a global organisation. The logistics office is responsible for the management of our stock and the shipment of goods to and from our distributors. Having a separate logistics office from our manufacturing premises allows us to provide our agents with focussed service and shorter delivery and turn-around times. HVDSA is an international company but we realise the need for, and the value offered by local service and support. We have appointed and trained highly skilled, experienced agents and distributors internationally to market and support our product ranges within their regions.
Our company structure and representation
HVDSA is represented in 26 countries through a structure of trained and technically competent agents. These agents have been chosen because of their application knowledge and experience and because we believe that they are able to offer the necessary support and training on our products to their customers.
In territories where we are not represented HVDSA will directly sell and support its range of equipment. We are always looking for competent representatives so please apply here.
Our Products and Markets
HV Diagnostics specialises in the design, manufacture and distribution of products to the high voltage and electrical engineering industries. Our principal market is that of utility companies in the generation, transmission and distribution sectors.
Our secondary markets include large industries that have their own distribution infrastructure, manufacturing companies.
All our products are CE certified and come with calibration certificates.

We have sold over 1500 VLF units and a significant number of diagnostic systems. We are well represented internationally and we are continually evaluating and expanding our representative base.
